Murali Nair is a multi award winning Director and Producer. His films are characterised by surreal, often social  and political story lines, his own unique way of looking at the world and cast consisting of mostly ordinary people.  His career began as an assistant director in the mainstream Bollywood industry. His first short film won a National Award from the President of India. He broke into International scene with his third short film in 1996, A long journey, at Cannes 1996. Three years later, his first feature film Throne of Death won him the coveted Camera D’Or. He is fondly called the 'Golden child of Cannes' by French critics.

 

Murali’s films have garnered huge critical success. He has received many industry awards and nominations, including Cannes, BAFTA nomination and City of Venice awards. He has been a member of Jury in many festivals around the world. His passion for training young people in film making is very well known.
